We are honoured to share our remarkable achievement at the 2025 Investec Trophy Wine Show, where Zevenwacht was awarded three major trophies as well as the show’s first-ever Investec Champion Winemaker of the Year title, presented to our talented Cellarmaster, Hagen Viljoen, recognising the individual behind the most awarded wines of the competition.
This exceptional recognition highlights Hagen’s role in leading our cellar to consistent excellence and innovation, while demonstrating the dedication and passion of the entire Zevenwacht team.
A standout among the results was the Z Collection Chenin Blanc 2024, which once again impressed the judges by claiming two of the show’s most prestigious accolades:
- Harold Eedes Trophy for Best Chenin Blanc
- Rosa Kruger Trophy for Best Old Vine Wine
Remarkably, the Z Collection Chenin Blanc 2022 vintage also received both awards in 2023.
Our success continued with the:
- Best Rhône-Style Red Blend awarded to the Tin Mine Syrah Mourvèdre 2022
- Gold Medal for the Estate Syrah 2022
The Trophy Wine Show is widely regarded as South Africa’s most rigorous and respected wine competition, known for its blind-tasting format that ensures wines are judged solely on quality. Each year, the panel comprises three international judges, who are leading critics, writers, and Masters of Wine, alongside six of South Africa’s top wine professionals, ensuring integrity, expertise, and excellence in the results.
